Of Hope and Pragmatism

I read an inspiring interview this morning with longtime ECM Records bass player Eberhard Weber.
I was exposed to his music only recently and found it just brilliant. Not only he’s a terrific instrument player, he’s a very interesting composer, with big and open imagination and vision.

This piece, like the entire album, really blew my mind

After he had a stroke, he was forced to quit playing his bass, which could have been a horrible tragedy, but it became a big opportunity to explore different rooms in your heart and mind, and it looks like that’s what he did.
It’s a good story of hope and a healthy, pragmatic, perspective of the world.
